“ Choosing this place for my birthday lunch was a great decision, I love Spanish tapas and this place offers you the best variety of tapas and delicious Spanish dishes. We tried the delicious paella and the tapas all with an incredible flavor. The service made me feel very well taken care of and they even gave me a drink for my birthday, the sophisticated, beautiful and pleasant atmosphere to eat with friends or a romantic date. ”
“ Beso was great. Great food. Great vibe and service was great from Matt. Had a great time! Would definitely return for more. ”
“ Great service starting with the hostess. Delicious food and even desserts! Best meal we had on vacation. ”
“ We were in the area because we were visiting the Ringling museum for my cousin's birthday! We just look up in Yelp and this restaurant immediately comes up, and as usual Yelp was right showing us this, we came in around 4pm I think is the time they open, the vibe was nice and the place was very nice and tidy, as soon as you walked in, you can see they put an effort on the decor and theme of the restaurant, just in awe! We were sat down and we ordered a couple tapas and appetizers to share within the table, the octopus was one of the best one I've ever had, it was so well prepared and seasoned and the pair with the potatoes that comes with it is just superb, I also liked a lot the pa amb oil and the sardines portugués, they are very good starters! I did not drink this time, but my friends ordered a sangria pitcher, and they were talking about it so I had to try a little bit and it was great, very well balanced, not to strong but at the same time you can really feel the wine. After that, we moved on to the main entrees, we order the mariscos paella, they advised you since the beginning that the paella usually takes more than half hour to cook, so we ordered as soon as we were ordering the drinks, then we the paella came, it was so worth the way, I think I can say it was one of the best paellas I've ever had in a really long time, it was just so great, we share our between 3 ppl so it was a very generous size. We are coming back for sure if we are in the area, one of the best restaurants ever for sure. Service was also outstanding, Allora was great, and gave us the best recommendations, being on top of everything the whole time, she was so good at making our experience even better. Hands down to this restaurant! You guys are doing amazing! ”
“ Visited Beso on a rainy Tuesday night. The place has a very intimate setting and the few amount of customers emphasized it more. We were greeted quickly by a very nice host which took us immediately to our table. The server was very attentive at all times and seemed very knowledgeable about the menu. We started the meal with a charcuterie board which was delicious. We were very excited for the paella and the wait was worth it. All of the seafood was very fresh and well seasoned. Finished the meal with a delicious cheesecake. Would love to come back try more of their tapa style dishes. ”
“ I really love tapas, and I always rate tapas restaurants highly... but wow was this place fantastic... Every dish we had blew it out of the water, and their cocktails are very unique and have a great taste. ”
“ Southern Basque tapas and Catalan paella joint with good food and good value. ++. Ambiance is eDgy, moody and Fun. It's definitely different than other SRQ restos. A mid-size restaurant with a good bar presence on the main floor. Across from it, tables are by their side windows. Additional tables are on the second floor... loft style overlooking the main floor. ++. Food is their (State Street?) take on Spanish tapas. Their dishes were heavier on sauces than other tapas bars I've tried. We didn't try their paella as no one can beat my mother's ;). Everything was well executed and tastelicious! These are what we tried. * Alcachofas Fritas - great light texture * Albondigas - satisfying * Patatas bravas - Phenomenal!! * Calamari - Good * Picanha - perfect temp & delicious! * Gambas ajilo - veggie heavy * Basque cheesecake - tart and creamy Our faves were patatas bravas with amazing paprika aioli sauce, Basque (La Vina) cheesecake, picanha with red and green sauces and alcachofas fritas for interesting presentation and texture. Their gambas ajillo was sautéed and had more veggies, which I appreciated but the balance could've been better. The meatball lover among us, really enjoyed more complex flavors in abondigas. The calamari was typical and def American and bar friendly. I so wish black ink sautéed version was served here. Although not strictly authentic, food here, is a refreshing interpretation and is delicious! Beso def adds an enchantment to SRQ dining and cocktail scene. +++. Price is reasonable and very good value for quality. ++. Service was prompt and attentive. Our server Matt was informative and his recommendations were on point. +. Parking is street or paid public lot. MY RATINGS - - - Inhumane - - Disgusted - Don't bother = Missed the Mark + Good ++ Better +++ EDIBLE... WHERE have you been all my LiFe! ”
“ Beso is a trendy venue with lots of seating both at the bar and tables with two floors. Public parking garage on State Street which is a short walk to Beso. For our date night, we sat at the bar which was comfortable to enjoy drinks and tapas. They have a great drink menu with a variety of choices. They have a variety of amaros they use in the cocktails which we enjoyed. The Negroni was perfection. (Amaro is a bittersweet herbal liquor which can be infused with a variety of flavors.) The bartenders were very attentive and pleasant. They answered all our questions with a smile. We ordered several tapas plates and they were all good. All were flavorful , great to share and as described on the menu. We ordered coffee and flan. The flan was delicious. The coffee was a regular brewed. (no espressos or lattes) The atmosphere was very upbeat and the staff were attentive and welcoming. I would call for reservations especially during season. A great place to come for couples, friends or family to share delicious tapas, amazing drinks and great service. ”
“ Probably will return. Two floors - both have bathrooms. High ceiling toward front of the restaurant. Clean industrial decor. Good service with very good foods. Love their cute glassware - short, fat and round. One server brought our food as I was taking a picture. He apologized... shouldn't I the one to apologize? I did. Then wondered why am I always taking pictures ... oh right, for self consumption - my pictorial diary. Wine - although both reds are good but Garnacha is definitely better than Triton: smoother and fuller. We've: Fried artichoke - most appetizing and delicious Calamari - good Beef cheek, slow braised - very good All is good and just when we're thinking to have another round of wines and one more plate, I bit on a hard piece, that looks like plastic. When the bill came I asked our server who said, "which one it's from?" "Either the beef or calamari." "It maybe the skin of the onion, but I'll ask the manager." When he returned for signature, he said nothing. So was it onion skin or plastic? ... after dinner, we went to the opera house for Carmen, which was a smooth sail. ”
“ Came here for lunch on a Sunday and I give Beso a 10/10!! It's a tapa spot. Everything I ordered was so good. I wish they could open a restaurant in Tampa lol. From the ambiance, server, and food, everything was phenomenal! Even though I loved all the dishes I ordered, the two that stood out to me were Carrillada de Ternera (braised beef cheek) which was so tender, and the Faln for dessert which was a mix of flan and creme brulee. SO GOOD! Can't wait to come back and try other dishes on the menu. What I ordered: - Mixed Olives - Mariscos Paella: Shrimp, clam, squid, chorizo, chicken - Carrillada de Ternera: braised beef cheek, PX sherry, saffron potato (MUST GET!!) - Pulpo: Octopus, paprika vinaigrette, saffron potato - Flan (MUST GET) ”
